Our Pastor

 Reverend Ashley McCray Davis is an ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. He is a proud member of the Washington Annual Conference within the Second Episcopal District and a former Senior Pastor of Cowdensville AME Church in Arbutus, Maryland. A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Reverend Davis received his education in the Wake County Public School System before attending Winston-Salem State University. He was a dedicated member of Elevation Baptist Church, where he actively participated in ministry.

Reverend Davis earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and a Master of Divinity from the School of Theology at Virginia Union University. Additionally, he is a U.S. Marine Veteran, having served during the Desert Storm Gulf War Campaign and the 1993-1994 Somalia Crisis. After re-enlisting, he served at Headquarters Marine Corps, Henderson Hall, where he met his wife, Shawan Katrina Dunaway; they have been happily married for 30 years and are proud parents and grandparents to their son Terrell, daughter Ashley Monet, and granddaughter Samyah.

In March 2010, Reverend Davis responded to the call of ministry and preached his initial sermon that June. He was ordained as an Itinerant Deacon in April 2017 under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Herman L. Gladney at Emmanuel AME Church, Fredericksburg, Virginia. During this time, he also served as Associate Pastor, overseeing the expansion of the worship service in Ladysmith, VA. In March 2019, he was ordained as an Itinerant Elder at the 69th Session of the Washington Annual Conference and subsequently appointed as Pastor of Cowdensville AME Church in Baltimore (Arbutus), Maryland.

Reverend Davis is passionate about both God and His people. As a preacher and teacher of the Gospel, he believes in the importance of continuous learning under the guidance of the Gospel and being a willing vessel for the Holy Spirit. He emphasizes the call to be devoted disciples, affirming that nothing is too hard for God.
