
Reverend Ashley McCray Davis is an ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church and a proud member of the Washington Annual Conference of the Second Episcopal District. He most recently served as Senior Pastor of Cowdensville AME Church in Arbutus, Maryland, and Assistant Pastor at Emmanuel AME Church, Stafford, VA.
A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Reverend Davis was educated in the Wake County Public School System before attending Winston-Salem State University. He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and a Master of Divinity from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. Prior to answering his call to ministry, he was an active member of Elevation Baptist Church, faithfully serving in various areas of ministry.
Reverend Davis is also a proud United States Marine Corps veteran. He served during Operation Desert Storm and the 1993–1994 Somalia Crisis. Following his re-enlistment, he was assigned to Headquarters Marine Corps at Henderson Hall, where he met his wife, Shawan Katrina Dunaway. Together they have shared 30 years of marriage and are blessed with two children, Terrell and Ashley Monet, and one cherished granddaughter, Samyah.
In March 2010, Reverend Davis answered God's call to ministry and preached his initial sermon in June of that year. He was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in April 2017 under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Herman L. Gladney at Emmanuel AME Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia. During his tenure there, he served as Associate Pastor and helped establish and expand the church's worship service in Ladysmith, Virginia. In March 2019, he was ordained an Itinerant Elder during the 69th Session of the Washington Annual Conference and was subsequently appointed Pastor of Cowdensville AME Church.
Reverend Davis is deeply committed to proclaiming the Gospel and serving God's people with humility, compassion, and integrity. As both a preacher and teacher, he believes in lifelong spiritual growth, faithful discipleship, and complete reliance on the guidance of the Holy Spirit. His ministry is rooted in the conviction that with God, all things are possible, and he seeks to inspire others to live lives of faith, purpose, and unwavering trust in God's power.
